I check bios in Setup, go to the hp support site and under BIOS category are three links. also, if I find one of you that is an expert on this model - normally SATA mode is simply dealt with in BIOS - either "legacy" or "native" ...
While performing the HP Health Check, it was recommended that I upgrade the existing bios.
Normally power on the laptop after recovering the BIOS and you will see the Compaq logo appearing again.
Disclaimer: I just tested the method in the post with my laptop and am not sure whether it works with one specific model (although it seems work for some others according to the comments).
Download the BIOS update file from HP’s website (an exe file). If the laptop keeps long beeping or beeping for more than 3 minutes, the recovery fails, possibly because of the wrong image file or the USB flash disk doesn’t work on the laptop.
In this case, you may try another image file or another USB flash disk.
The computer has seemed to work operate normally since, though for the life of me, I can't tell you why this worked. I tried to install Windows 7 Rc 1 yesterday on my laptop. I did try the steps which Shantyhag suggested but still teh same problem, I could be doing something wrong or just doing it the wrong way. Windows didn't load, and I wasn't even able to get into BIOS, because the Asus (my motherboard's) splash screen didn't show up.I was, for the record, trying to press the Insert button, so if yours has these separated-- as my Toshiba does-- then I'd start with that. After Windows installed, the laptop rebooted and stopped working. Please , dude this is due the this file have several file which are used after installlation as drivers , application etc if that file is corrupted then this problem occurs so install fresh copy of win 7Hiii... I (strongly) think that the problem is caused by the "Asus F8 conflicted with the Windows F8" If you don't understand: "Windows F8": when you press F8 at boot, an option list appears, so you can choose to go into Safe Mode, for example (works below Win 8); "Asus F8": when you press F8 at boot, it leads you to the Boot Selection menu HP Pavilion Desktop x64 (Win7): When I updated the bios, it did show as completed but when I restarted the computer, it did not boot.Keeping drivers updated is a well-known way of maximizing the security and performance of any computer or device. With drivers being updated all the time, they offer security updates, bug fixes and performance and feature enhancements. HP do a good job supporting their products and the refreshed HP Spectre X360 is no different. In any case, should you wish to, we recommend that you do not try to update your BIOS yourself, but instead take it to a computer technician who may be better equipped to do it. Once the System Information Tool opens, you can check the BIOS version. One can also run a command in CMD to check the BIOS version.
